Premium Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Glentauchers · 14 Years · First Fill Sherry Butt · 188 Bottles
“There is a crack in everything,
that’s how the spirit gets in.”
Whisky Brains’ inaugural independent bottling venture. This exceptional Single Malt Scotch Whisky, aged 14 years and distilled at Glentauchers in 2008, is a celebration of spirit and camaraderie. Bottled at cask strength from a First Fill Sherry Butt, it embodies a unique character and complexity.
The Crack series takes its inspiration from the lyrics of Leonard Cohen: “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.” Throughout our lives, we cannot avoid leaving cracks in our journey, but through these cracks, we experience the warmth of human kindness, genuine emotions, and the wisdom of growth. Just like how The Crack allows you to taste the essence of 14 years of ageing.

Neurogastronomy
Cask strength whisky rewards those who engage all the senses. Three steps to unlock what fourteen years of oak have woven into the spirit.

At cask strength, patience reveals complexity. Allow 10–20 minutes in the glass; as the spirit opens, volatile esters settle and deeper aromatic layers — dried fig, beeswax, smouldering oak — rise to meet you.

Apply a few drops to the back of your hand. As the alcohol lifts from the skin’s warmth, hidden scent compounds emerge — the aroma primes the retronasal pathways, heightening your expectation of the taste to come.

A single drop of water at cask strength triggers a molecular shift. Flavour congeners reorganise; the liquid visibly thickens as long-chain esters surface. Taste before and after — the same whisky, two different experiences.
